Office of the Administrator General and Official Trustee of Kerala


The Administrator General is appointed by the State Government under section 3 of the Administrators General Act, 1963 (Central Act 45 of 1963). In exercise of the powers conferred by section 62 of the said Act, the Government of Kerala had framed the rules for Regulating the Proceedings of the Administrator General of Kerala, issued as Notification No.1039-A1/64/Law dated 17th February, 1966 and published in Part I, page G.374 of the Kerala Gazette dated 21st June, 1966.
The Official Trustee is appointed by the State Government under section 4 of the Official Trustees Act, 1913 (Central Act No.2 of 1913). In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 30 of the said Act, the Government of Kerala had framed the Rules for regulating the proceedings of the Official Trustee of Kerala issued as Notification No.LD(A)1-3494/51/Law dated 8th November, 1957 and published in Part-I, section IV of the Kerala Gazette No.52 dated 24th December, 1957.
Government appoints one Advocate as the Administrator General and Official Trustee. His work is to be supervised by the Advocate General. Administrator General and Official Trustee is a part of the Advocate General's Office.
The administration of the Office of the Administrator General and the Official Trustee of Kerala State is undertaken by the Law Department through the Law (Inspection) Department.
The Office of the Administrator General and the Official Trustee is at Ernakulam.

 Administrator General 's Section

Administrator General Office consists of Section Officer, Senior Accountant, Assistant, Clerk-cum-Typists and other staff. There are four trusts administered by the Official Trustee. The purpose of the trusts are to grant scholarship to the high school and college students.

1. M.J.Murphy Trust Rs.1,30,100/- +12,000/- Scholarship
2. Kunhunny Ezhuthachan Trust Rs.2,000/- Scholarship
3. Aryanchira Education Trust Rs.1,09,000/- Scholarship
4. Aryanchira Poor StudentsFund Rs.17,000/- Scholarship

As regards the administration of estates under the jurisdiction of this Officer, 75 shares of the Peninsular Plantation Limited includes in the assets of him and the profit earned from this shares are deposited in the P.D. account of this Office. The jurisdiction limit of the Administrator General has been increased from Rs.2,00,000/- to 10,00,000/-by the Administrators General (Amendment) Act No.33 of 2012.
